Scenes

A scene is a moment you're capturing on this project — Scene 4, “Hero walks into kitchen,” or whatever your call sheet uses. Scenes are project-specific; they are not shared across projects the way locations are.

Where scenes live in the product

There is no dedicated Scenes tab. You work with scenes from:

  • Brief or script review when creating a project
  • Add scenes flows from the project (including from a location)
  • Scene detail pages (title, status, shoot dates, budget, links)
  • Location detail → Scenes (add or link scenes at that place)
  • Purchase detail → link or change scenes on a purchase after it's created

Creating scenes

From a brief or script, Backscene can propose scenes for review before the project is fully set up. You can also add scenes manually later. Brief parsing is Lite+; see Creating Projects for gates.

Linking to a location

A scene can optionally point at a project-linked location. That connection supports questions like “what did we spend at this practical?” and keeps shoot geography connected to spend. The location must already be linked to the project.

Linking to purchases

Purchases can associate one or more scenes. Linking is done on the purchase detail page (after create), not only on the initial log form. That keeps receipt logging fast, then lets you attach scene context when you have it.

Scene detail

Typical fields include title, description, status (for example scheduled through wrapped), shoot start/end, and optional scene budget next to total spent. From detail you can set location, link a purchase, or jump into add purchase / item / receipt flows.
