Budgets

Backscene tracks planned budget next to actual spend from purchases. Spend is the sum of purchase totals in scope — project, linked location, scene, or campaign — so you can see health against a target without rebuilding numbers in a spreadsheet.

Project budget

Set a project-level budget in Project Settings → Finance → Project Budget (USD). Overview KPIs (including budget health) compare that target to total spent on the project.

Who can edit Finance: org Admins and project Admins (people with project settings access). Details in Project Settings & Collaborators.

Location budgets

On Project Locations, each linked location can have its own budget for that project. Spend against the location comes from purchases tied to it here.

  • Unset — no location budget target (spend can still show)
  • Explicit zero — a real budget of $0, not the same as unset

The underlying place still lives in the org Locations Library; only the project link holds the location budget.

Scene budgets

A scene can carry an optional budget on its detail page, shown next to total spent for that scene. Use it when you care about cost per moment of the shoot, not only for the whole project.

Campaign budgets (Pro+)

On Pro and Studio, Campaigns can set a campaign budget target. Allocated budget rolls up from member projects' project budgets; total spent rolls up from purchases on those projects.
